Background and Goals
- Main project goal was to improve water supply pressures and fire fighting capabilities in the system.
- Another goal was to secure adequate funding for the full project.
Features
- Secured project financing through low-interest, long-term Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority loan.
- Construction of new 400,000 gallon glass-lined tank, distribution chlorination facilities, pumping station and emergency interconnection.
- Upgrading two (2) miles of water distribution lines.
Outcomes
- Successfully increased water distribution supply pressures in low-pressure problem areas.
- Increased fire flow volumes, which is likely to translate into reduced insurance rates to system customers.
- Observed significant reductions in system water losses, which translates to direct cost savings.
